The Incident: A Failure to Stop
The footage, captured by the rear-facing camera of a BlackVue DR970X-2CH, shows a typical driving scene on a neighborhood road in Sri Lanka. Traffic was moving slowly, under 40km/h (24 mph), when the cars ahead came to a halt.
Unfortunately, the motorcyclist directly behind the BlackVue user wasn’t able to stop in time. Whether due to distraction or mechanical failure, the rider plowed into the rear bumper of the user’s car. The impact was jarring enough to send the rider’s slippers flying, though thankfully, he remained on the bike and appeared to be uninjured.
According to the BlackVue user, the rider claimed his brakes were not working at the moment of impact.

In a typical scenario without a camera, a rear-end collision like this could lead to a “he-said, she-said” dispute. The other party might deny fault, claim the car stopped too suddenly, or refuse to pay for damages.
However, the BlackVue user had an ace up his sleeve. Both parties pulled over to the side of the road to assess the damage.
“Since the footage clearly showed that a motorcyclist just hit my car from behind when I was driving at a very slow speed, I showed the video to him and asked whether he was able to pay the damage or go for a legal process.”
Upon seeing the undeniable footage from the DR970X-2CH, the motorcyclist dropped any potential defense.
