How to Get Started with FLEETA
Managing one vehicle — or an entire fleet — is easier when you can see exactly what is happening in real time.
FLEETA helps drivers, fleet managers, and business owners monitor their vehicles remotely with live video, live location tracking, geofencing, instant notifications, cloud storage, and advanced fleet management features.
In this video, we walk through the three main steps to get started with FLEETA:
- Choose a compatible BlackVue dashcam
- Prepare your SIM card or internet connection
- Choose the FLEETA plan that fits your needs
Step 1: Choose a Compatible BlackVue Dashcam
To use FLEETA, you first need a compatible BlackVue dashcam. There are three main types to consider.
LTE Dashcams
BlackVue LTE dashcams include built-in SIM card support, allowing them to connect to the internet directly through a mobile data plan.
This is the simplest option if you want each dashcam to connect independently without relying on an external hotspot.
Standard Cloud-Compatible Dashcams
BlackVue Cloud-compatible dashcams can connect to FLEETA using either Wi-Fi or an LTE connectivity module.
If the dashcam does not have built-in LTE, you can use the CM100GLTE LTE Module to add mobile connectivity.
Box Series Dashcams
BlackVue Box models are designed for more discreet installations and improved heat management. The main unit can be installed in a safer or more hidden location inside the vehicle.
These models also support advanced configurations, including up to three camera channels, such as front, interior, rear, driver monitoring, or waterproof rear cameras.
You can browse compatible dashcams on BlackVue.com and choose the model that best fits your vehicle type, installation needs, and fleet requirements.
Step 2: Prepare Your SIM Card or Internet Connection
To connect your dashcam to FLEETA, you need an internet connection.
For most users, this means preparing a nano SIM card with an active mobile data plan. A 4G LTE SIM card is recommended. A 5G SIM card can also be used, but it will automatically fall back to 4G mode when used with the dashcam.
Please note that the SIM card and mobile data plan are not included with the dashcam or FLEETA service. You will need to purchase them separately from your local mobile carrier.
How Much Data Do You Need?
Your data usage will depend on how you use FLEETA.
For simple GPS tracking, data consumption is very low. In many cases, even a small monthly data plan may be enough if you mainly need location tracking.
Live video streaming uses more data. As a general reference, cloud video streaming uses about 1 Mbps, which is approximately 7.5 MB per minute or 450 MB per hour.
Downloading or playing back original video files can use significantly more data, depending on your dashcam’s resolution and bitrate. For example, a 4K front camera can record files of up to around 450 MB per minute.
NOTE: regardless of the original resolution, a low-resolution video is also recorded and can be accessed for quick playback or even backup over the cloud. That video file is about 5 to 7.5MB in size, depending on the dash cam model.
Live Event Uploads ( = auto-upload files) use a similar bitrate to live streaming (1Mbps or 7.5MB per minute), so they also require more data than GPS tracking alone.
Wi-Fi Connection Option
A SIM card is not always required.
If your vehicle already has an internet-enabled Wi-Fi connection, such as Starlink or another mobile hotspot, compatible BlackVue Cloud dashcams can connect to FLEETA through that Wi-Fi connection.
This can be a practical option for vehicles that already have onboard internet.
Step 3: Choose Your FLEETA Plan
Once your compatible BlackVue dashcam and internet connection are ready, the next step is choosing a FLEETA plan.
FLEETA offers plans for different types of users, from individuals who want to protect their own vehicle to businesses that need to monitor an entire fleet.

For example, the Standard plan supports up to 10 dashcams and includes GPS tracking history and voice calls. Pro and Enterprise add advanced fleet features such as multi-live view, geofencing, bulk camera management, email notifications, and more.
The Enterprise plan includes the most advanced capabilities, including up to 64-channel live view, AI reports, AI Copilot insights, and increased cloud storage of up to 50 GB per camera.
