The BlackVue App is set to receive a significant update at the end of the month, bringing a host of new features, UI improvements, and essential bug fixes to enhance your experience. Whether you’re a seasoned BlackVue user or new to our ecosystem, these updates will make managing your dash cam easier and more efficient than ever.
BlackVue Account Now Required…
To ensure a seamless and secure user experience, a BlackVue account will be required to access your camera. This change allows for better integration with connected services and personalized app functionality.
…but always-on Internet connection not needed
While the initial creation of a BlackVue account is required, the app won’t require an internet connection once you are logged in. As long as you do not log out from the app, you will be able to use it without internet connection and connect locally to your dash cam anytime.
Major Fix
- A critical log-out error has been resolved, ensuring your login status remains active and consistent.
Updated User Interface (UI)
Navigating the BlackVue App will soon be more intuitive with a refreshed UI:
- A new “camera card” interface provides quick and easy access to key features right from the Cameras tab.
- The navigation bar now includes direct access to your cloud storage.
- Helpful tips guide you in optimizing your dash cam usage.
- The playback list UI has been improved with:
- Indicators for watched videos.
- Clear video quality indicators.
- A more streamlined video title format.
- The process of registering your camera and connecting it to the cloud has been simplified.
New Features for a Better Experience
The upcoming update introduces several exciting new features:
- All BlackVue cameras registered in the app will receive 1GB free cloud storage (upgraded to 5GB if you later connect your dash cam to BlackVue Cloud).
- Videos can be deleted while connected via a Wi-Fi connection.
- Future BlackVue dash cam models can be registered using a QR scan feature.
- Users can now skip to the next video while watching.
- For iOS users: Maps will be available during Wi-Fi connected video playback.
- Videos can be uploaded to the cloud via the app, even if the camera is not connected to the cloud.
- An offline mode will allow you to use the app without an internet connection.
- Compatible BlackVue Batteries can now be paired without requiring a BlackVue Cloud connection.
Removed Features
To streamline the app experience, certain features will be removed:
- The Event Map feature will be discontinued.
- The Non-login Wi-Fi Mode will no longer be available.
- Any cameras previously registered in Wi-Fi Mode will automatically be added to your account once you log in.
